E911 Services

Federal laws mandate that all businesses and organizations must enable direct 911 dialing and that all Multi-Line Telephone Systems (MLTS) must report accurate 911 caller information to the correct Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP). In addition, on-site personnel must be notified when someone dials 911 from any company device, including VoIP phones, mobile phones and laptop softphones.

  • Direct dial 911: Ensure anyone can make 911 from your phone system without needing to dial an outbound extension (such as dialing “9”)

  • Detailed location reporting: Ensure PSAP dispatchers receive accurate locations for 911 callers, even if they’re working remotely off-site or at home. Location information must include specific identifiers such as an address, building, floor, wing and room number

  • Automatic notification: Immediately notify designated personnel when someone dials 911 from any company device

Our E911 services work with most existing phone systems, so you don’t need to replace your phone system to make your organization safe and compliant.

Reliable Communications

Emergency response is only as reliable as the technology behind it. When you partner with Cady, you can depend on a system that works when you need it most.

Advanced Emergency Response

E911 and NG911 (Next Generation 911) technologies enhance emergency response with:

  • Geofencing: Report accurate locations when anyone calls 911 from a non-company cell phone anywhere on your campus, indoors or out. Automatically update caller locations as they move

  • Security system integration: View live camera feeds from near the 911 caller's location with a mobile app. Remotely lockdown doors to keep aggressors out of your facility and unlock doors to allow first responders in

  • Weapons detection: Automatically detect weapons and send notifications to designated personnel

  • Silent panic alarms: Notify law enforcement during an active shooter event or other emergencies

  • Face & license plate recognition: Detect and record faces and license plates for law enforcement identification

  • Interactive maps: Display AED and first aid kit locations for medical emergencies and plot hazardous material locations to help prevent an emergency from escalating. View environmental sensors (such as mold and CO2) and smoke/vape sensors (ideal for schools)

These technologies can save lives by significantly reducing the time it takes for first responders to locate the point of emergency.

You can also put your system in demo mode to conduct active shooter drills. Demo mode simplifies reporting to reduce stress and time-consuming paperwork during state-mandated school training.

Every business and organization must comply with federal laws and can benefit from advanced emergency response technology, including:

  • Healthcare organizations (hospitals and clinics)

  • Educational organizations (preschools, K-12 schools and colleges)

  • Hotels and other hospitality businesses

Do I need a new phone system?

Cady’s workplace safety solutions work with most existing phone systems. Consult your Cady technology advisor to learn more about which options are available for your business or organization.

What are the E911 laws?

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) mandates that businesses and organizations must comply with the following laws:

  • Kari’s Law (direct dial 911): Anyone must be able to reach 911 dispatchers (Public Safety Answering Points, or PSAPs) from any device in your network without first needing to dial an outbound extension (such as “9”). When 911 is dialed from your phone system, on-site personnel (such as security teams or front desk staff) must be notified

  • RAY BAUM’s Act: All Multi-Line Telephone Systems (MLTS) must report accurate 911 caller locations to PSAPs, including detailed location identifiers such as an address, building, floor, wing, and room number

These E911 requirements are designed to prevent potential tragedies such as:

  • A child or visitor who cannot reach 911 because they don’t know to dial an outbound extension

  • Inaccurate location reporting, such as if an employee dials 911 from a satellite office, but dispatch receives your main office’s address

  • A remote employee dials 911 from home, but dispatch receives your main office address

  • There’s an emergency on your property, but no one on-site responds because they are not aware of it

Non-compliance could spell legal trouble, carrying fines of up to $10,000 plus $500 per day and potentially inviting lawsuits if first responders can’t locate an emergency. Legal issues are not only costly, they can significantly damage your organization’s reputation.

In addition, some states have adopted Alyssa’s Law, which requires schools to install silent panic alarms that alert local law enforcement to emergencies. The law is pending in several other states and has been introduced on the federal level.
